Meet the Staff

Our dedicated staff brings with them many years of extensive experience.

Mark Berger - President/CEO
With over 30 years with nonprofit organizations and formerly a PWI board member and chair, Mark was named President and CEO in February 2005. He received his Masters degree in community and organizational change from the University of Maryland and has studied in the MBA program at San Diego State University’s College of Business. He continues to teach nonprofit management at Chapman University and Nonprofit Management Solutions.

Vickie Cap - Vice President/Chief Operating Officer
As a career professional in social services and management, Vickie began her work at PWI as the Director of the North County office. After two years she was promoted to VP/COO and now oversees PWI’s services and daily operations including job training, assessment, and placement programs for individuals with developmental disabilities. She received her Bachelors degree in social work from North Michigan University.

C.E. Skip Covell - Chief Financial Officer

Skip joined PWI in August 2010 as Chief Financial Officer. He has served as CFO and later CEO of the Arc of San Diego as well as CEO of the Arc of Bakersfield. His distiguished career began as a volunteer assisting youngsters with developmental disabilities. He is a graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Accounting.

Janet Hanpeter - Development Officer

Working in marketing in nonprofits and healthcare, Janet brings experience in development and communications to the PWI team. She works closely with the CEO, Board and Marketing and Development committee to build new resources for PWI. She received her MBA from San Diego State University.
