Employment, dignity, and choice across San Diego County

News

Volunteers change lives, including their own.

A few hours of time can widen what a person learns, strengthen a program, and give the volunteer something worth remembering.

Community news

PWI depends on people who are willing to show up. Volunteers support the Job Resource Center, help clients practice computer skills, join community events, and assist in our offices. Some share their work experience so clients can picture the jobs that might be possible.

The benefit runs in both directions: the organization gains help, and the volunteer gains experience, relationships, and a closer view of the work.

What makes a good volunteer

Reliability matters more than a long resume. A volunteer who arrives when expected, listens well, and follows the direction of program staff can make a real difference. Staff will explain the expectations and boundaries before you begin.

Group volunteering

Teams from businesses, schools, and community groups can volunteer together. A group day can include a project at one of our offices, support for an event, or a workplace tour that helps a team understand the mission. Groups should contact PWI in advance so staff can plan meaningful work.

How to begin

Call the office or send a message with your availability and interests. Tell us whether you hope to volunteer once, on a regular schedule, or with a group. We will explain current needs and the next step.
